What does the Consortium do?
It makes sure that the views of Northumberland's voluntary and community sector are heard wherever public policy impacts on the sector. So that could be decision makers in the County Council, the Care Trust, Northumberland Strategic Partnership (NSP), the Local Area Agreement or One NorthEast or the host of different partnerships on which the sector sits - wherever public policy affects the sector.

Northumberland as Case Study
In the spring 2010 Capacitybuilders, the major funder of the VCS Consortium, chose Northumberland as an example of how it contributes to sustainable support services for the sector in the county. Click here for the report.
Survey of Sector December 2009
The largest single survey of voluntary and community organisations in Northumberland was undertaken by the VCS Consortium using the on-line tool Survey Monkey. About 350 VCOs were invited to take part and over 170 responded. It was made up of two parts. The first few questions related to attitudes to and impact of the planned Council cuts to the sector. The second half invited responses over what type of support and advice they would miss most and where organisations were receiving it. For the summary results click here.
