General Support

General support & advice is provided to over a thousand frontline voluntary and community groups and organisations active in Northumberland.  This is sometimes referred to as “CVS type” support because it includes all the support generally associated with Councils for Voluntary Service. These services include help in:

• finding sources of funding/finance
• running events and fund raising
• finding & retaining volunteers, meeting rooms etc
• organising your group (trustees, bank account etc)
• promoting your activities
• business planning
• monitoring what you do
• managing buildings
• managing paid staff and volunteers

 
More specialist support services, together with activities to develop the effectiveness of the sector by representing and promoting it, are described in the different headings on the left (specialist services, learning and training, volunteering etc.)
